Internal Standardization

As multiple teachers teach the same subject group, the process of internal standardization takes place before final achievement levels are awarded. Internal standardization of assessment applies to the personal project. This process involves teacher agreement upon the common understanding of criteria and achievement level applications. This establishes reliability and consistency in both instruction and assessment.

HIS adopts a standardization cycle which entails collaborative teamwork pre/during/post task assignation that ensures fair grading and student work moderation. The main purpose is to:

1. Move away from moderation as an event
2. Reduce ‘grade defending’ in conversations
3. Promote shared understanding of expectations
4. Encourage constant collaborative planning
