The Counseling Office seeks to promote a safe and healthy environment for students; it aims to ensure that HIS students are independent individuals, capable of understanding themselves as well as others, and are resilient against life struggles. The Social Emotional Learning (SEL) program is at the core of the counseling office. The SEL program is implemented across all grade levels, to promote psychological health, increase children’s resilience, educational outcomes, and overall psychological wellbeing. SEL is a process taught through individual or group-based activities.
Additionally, the counseling office is responsible for following up on student’s emotional well-being and designing intervention plans when needed. The counseling office meets with students regularly as needed, and follows up with parents and out-of-school specialists to ensure a comprehensive and consistent action plan.
