Inspired by Allah’s (SWT) invitation in the above verse,  Al-Hayat International School (HIS) has developed solid foundations for a comprehensive inquiry-based educational program that encourages people to explore, investigate and strive to learn.  

As an IB-PYP and MYP authorized school, our curriculum follows the IB-PYP and MYP curricular framework and is up to date on the best practices in teaching and learning.  The academic program meets the Lebanese national curriculum standards as well.

Goals of HIS Educational program:

  • Empower the school community: students, teachers, administrative staff, parents, etc…
  • Implement differentiated learning in all classes respecting interests, skills, and abilities.
  • Offer Learning Support programs that are developed to help students with special rights enjoy learning and improve their abilities.
  • Integrate the Lebanese educational curriculum in our inquiry-based educational program.

HIS program is, therefore, characterized by the following:

  1. An Inquiry Based Approach:
    Students are encouraged to always ask, notice change, and engage in events to experience and reach a deeper understanding of knowledge, concepts, and skills. They are encouraged to harness their natural curiosity and investigate, explore, discover, study, observe as well as reflect on learning experiences. Learning is fostered in collaborative and mutually respectful classrooms within a school environment where individual progress takes places cooperatively rather than competitively. Students are held accountable for collecting and communicating accurate and credible data, and reflecting on their learning, enabling them to develop social and thinking skills. 


  1. Concept Based Curriculum and Instruction:
    This incorporates a three dimensional learning approach that:
  • Covers the content (what they learn)
  • Develops the skills (how they learn)
  • And builds conceptual understandings (what they understand) (Erickson, 2007)

    Drawing out conceptual understandings goes beyond the basic content of the curriculum. It actively immerses the student in real-life contexts. As a result, HIS prepares lifelong learners who are capable of facing life challenges thoughtfully, resourcefully, with passion and balance.


  1. Dynamic Integrated Learning:
    In lieu of the ever-changing nature of life, students are urged to explore concepts under different trans-disciplinary themes. They refer to a variety of resource materials. All various school facilities are open for students to use, providing them with the resources and spaces necessary to explore concepts using a multidisciplinary approach; employing mathematical, scientific, linguistic, social, personal, spiritual, and artistic skills.
