A growing body of research shows that the school food system affects the dietary behaviors of youth and is associated with obesity. To that end, HIS exposes Early Years students to healthy daily nutritious meals that raise student awareness to healthy food choices. Students have access to a cafeteria menu that serves a variety of food and beverages for breakfast, snack, and lunch. Older students have the choice to either enroll in this service or abide by the food policy developed by the health office.
